Bristol ice-rink was opened in 1966 by Mecca. The development originally included an ABC Cinema, 12 bars, bowling lanes, a casino, nightclub, and a 2,000-capacity Locarno ballroom.

The majority of the buildings were demolished in 1998, making way for the Unite student accomodation. With only the night club (formally cinema) and the ice rink remaining open.
